This page is for pharmacists and other health care providers who have patients currently enrolled in the Cystic Fibrosis Patient Assistance Foundation (CFPAF).
If you do not currently have a patient enrolled in the CFPAF and you would like to refer a patient to the CFPAF for help with their co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles, then please visit on How to Apply.
You may also learn more about the CFPAF by visiting Program Details.
Q. Is there a specific network to which pharmacies must belong in order to process claims for the Cystic Fibrosis Patient Assistance Foundation (CFPAF)?
A. Pharmacies that participate in the CFPAF must be a part of the Welldyne Health Systems network. Welldyne is the CFPAF's claim administrator.
Q. While our pharmacy is awaiting network membership, what should I tell patients who need their CFPAF prescriptions filled immediately?
A. While awaiting your network membership, you may refer patients to the CFPAF's website at www.cfpaf.org or call us at (888) 315-4154 for a list of participating pharmacies. If the patient elects to fill his/her prescription at your pharmacy before you become part of the network, the patient will have to pay for the cost of the medication up front, and send a claim for reimbursement to the following: Attention: Claims Department, CFPAF, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814. The patient can call the CFPAF for help to file claims.
A. The benefit card works like any other prescription drug card. The only difference is that the CFPAF is the payer of last resort, so the benefit card covers just the remaining cost of the prescriptions after all of the patient's other insurance and benefits have been billed. With the CFPAF card, your pharmacy may collect a $10 co-payment for each prescription depending upon the amount of assistance for which the patient has been approved. If you have any questions or problems processing the CFPAF benefit card, please call the Welldyne help desk at (888) 886-5822, or the CFPAF at (888) 315-4154.
Q. Is there a supply limit to each prescription fill?
A. Yes, there is a 30-day supply limit for each prescription processed for the CFPAF. If the patient needs more than a 30-day supply, the pharmacy must call the CFPAF for an exception.
Q. Are there any other program requirements that pharmacies must follow to participate in the CFPAF?
A. Please note that your pharmacy must use version 5.1 of NCPDP to submit claims to Welldyne. Additionally, since the CFPAF is the payer of last resort, the patient's primary and secondary insurer (if applicable) must be billed first to ensure co-pay approval through Welldyne. Then, the co-pay transmission request can be submitted to Welldyne with the appropriate BIN, PCN, Group number, and member ID.
